VERMONT GREEN MOUNTAIN MAYHEM OUTLAW

Although the racing didn’t go as planned, it ended up being a pretty fun weekend of shredding in the green mountains of Brattleboro, Vermont. Skaters from as far south as Virginia, and as far north as Montreal began to show up at my house Saturday afternoon, to a torrential rainstorm.

This years IGSA US Championship at Bonelli Park was an amazing and inspiring event for all riders who came out. Some of the best riders in the nation came to compete and skateboard with old and new friends. After a long 6 hour trip from the Bay Area to San Dimas, California, the Berkeley hill’s COMET riders reached their hotel and prepared for Saturday morning practice runs and prelims. After everyone got signed in and passed tech inspections, riders geared up and loaded in the back of 2 UHauls to start bombing the hill.

Pennsyltucky II

nthony Flis’ recap:
Pennsyltucky is an awesome event put on by some of the raddest guys on the east coast! Dean and Ray have been skating longer than most of us racing have been born and they were part of the underground vert scene in the 80s. They know how to host a bunch of skaters to say the least!

Don’t Do it!

On October 10th, 2009, over 250 skateboarders of all types descended upon what may be the most treacherous race course in history. The obstacles ranged from cross traffic, to pedestrians, to bus stopping short, to cracks/gaps in the pavement, to road construction, to the occasional skater that didn’t quite know not to step on his/her wheels. The saying that organizers of this event like to use is “You may die” and in fact, this saying holds true.

Liam Morgan Wins Maryhill Junior 1 Division

September 15th, 2009

I live in the beautiful Bay Area; which is a torturous 11 hour drive from Maryhill Loops Road in Goldendale Washington. My Dad, Sinjin Davis, Jake D’Amato and I made the drive on Thursday at 4:00 am we were hoping to arrive in Goldendale in time for some freeriding. Unfortunately we did not fulfill this goal. We arrived at Maryhill a 3:00pm. We went to the campground and set up camp and almost immediately were pelted by airsoft guns. We learned that these little guns packed a pretty powerful sting and were a huge part of the Festival of Speed. Soon enough I got ahold of one, and was getting into all sorts of trouble with my partner in crime, and fellow Comet rider, Justin DuBois.
