They are showing what is possible, giving us all hope, and reminding everyone that we are voting everyday with our dollar. It is undeniable that there has been a dramatic increase in awareness about social justice and environmental sustainability. America has been slow to wake up, but we’re definitely waking up. Green solutions are no longer pipedreams about future technologies. It’s here. Inc. cover¬†Between 2004 and 2005 a major change in mainstream society was beginning to take hold. ¬†Keeping eco and ethical practices on the down low was no longer and option. ¬†Greater numbers of people were ready to hear how small companies, non profits, and community leaders were shaping the future. ¬†This culminated in Inc. giving us a little love. ¬†In our case the Do Good could be more highlighted. . ¬†It was rad among so many talented and visionary people in this issue. Buzzaw is Ithaca College’s monthly alternative news magazine, and it has won numerous national awards such as the Independent Press Association’s Campus Independent Journalism Awards for “Best Campus Publication with a Budget Under $10,000″ and “Best Political Commentary” in 2005 and the Campus Alternative Journalism Project’s award for “Best Sense of Humor” in 2003. Don Has been a long time friend of mine and moved into seriously organize Comet back in 2001. He comes form a Wendell Berry school of thought and has helped push Comet toward realizing the goals we set out for many years ago. At the time of this article he was rocking in the non-profit world helping communities create strategies to embolden their local economy and conserve their wealth from being exported away from benefiting the community by the likes of WalMart.
